EIT Urban Mobility, an initiative of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), a body of the European Union and PwC CEE will present the CEE Smart Cities Mobility Sprint 2026, a new study examining how 25 cities across Central and Eastern Europe are approaching sustainable and smart mobility, at the New Mobility Congress 2026 in Katowice from 23 to 25 September.

The study comes as cities across the region prepare for the EU’s 2028 to 2034 programming period. It explores key mobility priorities including Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans, decarbonisation and air quality, artificial intelligence and digitalisation, reducing car dependency, transport safety, social inclusion and resilient infrastructure.

The Sprint also looks at how cities can finance the transition to more sustainable mobility, as growing investment needs put pressure on municipal budgets and increase the need for new financial instruments and stronger public private cooperation.

The findings will complement discussions at the Congress, including “Who Will Finance the Cities of Tomorrow?”, featuring Marc Rozendal, CEO of EIT Urban Mobility, and “Digital and Sustainable Solutions for New Mobility: a CEE Innovation Perspective”, featuring Traian Urban, Regional Director at EIT Urban Mobility Innovation Hub East.

KNM2026 is expected to bring together approximately 7,500 professional visitors, 500 speakers and 250 partners and exhibitors for discussions on new mobility, smart cities, energy infrastructure, resilience and emerging technologies.

About KNM2026: CEE’s largest event in the new sustainable mobility industry KNM is the largest e-mobility and zero emission transport sector event in Central & Eastern Europe which will bring together industry leaders, researchers, government representatives and all those interested in the future of mobility.
