The European Commission has launched a call for evidence on the revision of the EIT Regulation and the EIT Strategic Innovation Agenda, inviting voices from across Europe to contribute to the discussion on the future of the EIT.
The revision comes at a time of broader changes to the EU policy and funding landscape, including the discussions around the next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) and the future of European competitiveness and innovation funding. Against this backdrop, the Commission highlights the need to strengthen Europe’s capacity to generate, attract and scale innovation in response to global competition, rapid technological change and evolving strategic priorities.
The consultation focuses on how the EIT and its Knowledge and Innovation Communities can contribute to stronger innovation ecosystems and closer cooperation across the knowledge triangle of education, research and business. It also looks at how the EIT can help translate research and knowledge into market impact, support entrepreneurship and skills development, and make Europe more attractive to talent and innovators.
The consultation provides an opportunity for the entire EIT Urban Mobility community, including cities, universities, industry, startups, students, and other stakeholders, to share their innovation story and highlight how EIT UM has helped them and their initiative to become a major contributor to EU competitiveness and economic independence. This includes views on how the EIT and its KICs can most effectively contribute to innovation in the EU’s urban mobility sector highlighting relevant tools and identifying barriers. It is also a chance to reflect on how European innovation ecosystems can evolve to respond to a fast-changing technology environment, while strengthening European entrepreneurship, and to take part in the wider discussion on the future of European innovation.
