EIT Urban Mobility and the Swiss Association for Autonomous Mobility (SAAM) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration on autonomous mobility.
SAAM is Switzerland’s national association dedicated to accelerating the deployment of autonomous mobility solutions, bringing together public authorities, industry, operators, research institutions and other stakeholders. Its ambition to advance safe, effective autonomous mobility deployment aligns closely with EIT Urban Mobility’s own mission to build more sustainable, innovative and liveable urban transport systems across Europe.
Sharing the vision for safer, smarter mobility
The collaboration reflects a common belief: that the transition to automated mobility is best achieved through open exchange and collaboration, rather than in isolation. By joining forces, EIT Urban Mobility and SAAM aim to bring Swiss expertise and experience closer to a wider European innovation network – helping good ideas travel faster between national and continental levels.
Both organisations see automated and connected mobility as an opportunity to make cities more liveable, transport more efficient, and innovation more accessible to public authorities, industry and startups alike. The MoU gives that shared vision a concrete framework to grow from.

Building momentum together
Looking ahead, EIT Urban Mobility and SAAM plan to work together across several fronts: supporting major industry events – such as Tomorrow.Mobility World Congress organised by EIT Urban Mobility and the Automated Mobility Summit organised by SAAM – that showcase European progress in autonomous mobility. Together they will also create opportunities for Swiss voices and initiatives to reach a broader European audience, and exchanging knowledge on the policy and funding landscape shaping the sector.
The two organisations further intend to explore joint activities in professional education and capacity building, helping to equip the wider mobility ecosystem with the skills and knowledge needed to assist responsible AV deployment. The overall aim of the cooperation is to strengthen the broader European push towards safe, coordinated and innovative autonomous mobility – reinforcing the idea that lasting progress in this field depends on strong collaboration across borders.
