EIT Urban Mobility’s #ChallengeMyCity programme has launched four new pilots in the cities of Milan and Toulouse. These pilots will enable the cities to test innovative mobility solutions to the challenges that they face, that can later be widely rolled out.
In Toulouse, the city has collaborated with EIT Urban Mobility to deploy two innovative mobility solutions at Gare de Matabiau: a secure bike shelter installed by the start-up Nielsen Concept, and a docking station for micromobility e-vehicles installed by the start-up Solum. The objective of this experience is for the city council to validate a new model of intermodality that can be later rolled-out across the entire new third metro line, set to launch in 2028.
The Mayor and President of Toulouse Métropole, Jean Luc-Moudenc, presented the pilots together with EIT Urban Mobility CEO Maria Tsavachidis, in a demonstration of the political commitment of the city of Toulouse to encouraging the use of sustainable transport amongst its citizens.

The city of Milan has also joined EIT Urban Mobility to implement two innovative mobility solutions at Stazione Rogoredo: a secure bike shelter installed by the start-up Don Cicleto, and a docking station for micromobility e-vehicles installed by the start-up Solum.
Following the pilots, the city council will be able to create a new model of intermodality that can improve the connectivity of peripheric train stations like Rogoredo and foster the use of micromobility across the entire transport network.
The Councillor of Mobility of the City of Milan, Arianna Censi, kicked off the pilots in a show of Milan’s undertaking of the transition to more sustainable and accessible urban mobility.

Over the next few months, citizens of both cities will be able to enjoy these solutions, facilitating sustainable travel by allowing them to safely park and charge their micromobility vehicles next to the train stations.
