EIT Urban Mobility and Mitsubishi UFJ Capital invest in Everimpact

30 June 2025

Mathieu Carlier, CEO & Founder of Everimpact

Everimpact, the climate tech company building the world’s first real-time greenhouse gas (GHG) data network, has secured strategic investment from EIT Urban Mobility and Mitsubishi UFJ Capital (MUCAP), the venture capital arm of Japan’s largest financial group.

The investment will accelerate Everimpact’s commercial rollout of its certified carbon tracking system—the only solution capable of directly measuring CO₂ emissions at the source across urban environments, ports, forests and ships.

This backing follows the recent certification of Everimpact’s system for maritime use, confirming its accuracy for regulatory and commercial applications—including compliance with EU carbon tax reporting requirements.

“At EIT Urban Mobility, our primary investment focus is impact. We invest in technologies geared towards empowering people, towns and cities to decarbonise and make their environment more liveable,” said Peter Vest, Investment & Portfolio Manager at EIT Urban Mobility. “Through Everimpact’s certified carbon monitoring technology, decisions to drive impactful policy, investment and compliance decisions at scale are possible. A great example of an impactful solution at work and a definite reflection of the top-quality team that made it happen.”

Tanoshi Kikuchi, Deputy General Manager, Mitsubishi UFJ Capital, added: “Everimpact is transforming the fight against climate change with real-time/accountable data — starting with shipping, one of the hardest sectors to decarbonise. Their bold vision extends to forests and cities alike, empowering action where it matters most. We’re proud to support Everimpact and their mission toward a truly transparent carbon economy.”

Powered by the Global Maritime Ecosystem

This investment builds on Everimpact’s seed round led by Motion Ventures, with participation from a powerful group of maritime and logistics leaders, including MOL PLUS, IMC Ventures, Blue Star Group, Raspberry Ventures and ADB Ventures. To date, Everimpact has raised a total of €3.4M in seed funding.

Together, they support Everimpact in cracking one of the shipping industry’s biggest challenges: measuring actual CO₂ emissions from ships in real-time rather than relying on assumptions and models.

“Shipping urgently needs reliable data to decarbonise faster—and that starts with measuring what’s actually coming out of the funnel, rather than relying on industry averages and estimated data,” said Mathieu Carlier, CEO & Founder of Everimpact. “With the first certified and patent-pending total exhaust flow system, trusted by leading companies in shipping and new strategic capital, we’re now in a position to scale this globally.”

From Smart Cities to Smart Shipping—and now, Forestry and Beyond

Everimpact’s carbon monitoring system has already been validated in over 100 locations across 12 European cities. After three years of R&D and a rigorous certification process, the company is beginning to commercialise its GHG monitoring solution for the maritime sector. The forestry sector is next, with certification underway to replace manual greenhouse gas (GHG) sequestration reporting with satellite-based remote sensing, enabling the accurate tracking of carbon captured by forests. Everimpact is also partnering closely with Hitachi Systems to bring this remote sensing capability to Japanese forestry associations and municipalities.

The end-to-end platform combines on-site carbon sensors and satellite data with a real-time emissions dashboard, giving its customers the ability to:

  • Monitor actual CO₂ emissions at the source
  • Identify hotspots and optimise operations to reduce GHG emissions
  • Generate trusted data for compliance, ESG reporting and climate finance

Everimpact was recently awarded a financial prize by the Governor of Tokyo in recognition of its innovative greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions monitoring, reinforcing its position as a leading innovator in climate technology. Since 2024, the company has been officially sponsored by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and, at the government’s request, established a local subsidiary—Everimpact Japan—to expand its presence and operations across Asia. It is now on a mission to Expand the World’s First Real-Time GHG Data Network—Spanning Land, Sea and Space.
