Tomorrow.Mobility closes its sixth edition turning mobility solutions into real impact

5 November 2026

The sixth edition of Tomorrow.Mobility World Congress (TMWC) closes its doors today after three days focused on scaling up the technologies and solutions that can accelerate the adoption of new sustainable mobility schemes. Co-organised by Fira de Barcelona and EIT Urban Mobility, an initiative of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, a body of the European Union, the event brought together more than 5,000 attendees, 228 exhibitors and more than 240 speakers.

The congress focused on how cities can seize the tools and strategies developed in recent years to deliver today the urban mobility of tomorrow. Mobility as a Service (MaaS) as a driver of seamless multimodal schemes, curbside and parking management as strategic mobility infrastructure, and the arrival of autonomous vehicles (AVs) guided the discussions held across three stages: Main Stage, Move Better Stage and Shaping Mobility Stage.

EIT Urban Mobility highlighted the value of bringing together in one place the cities, startups, researchers and industry working on the future of mobility. Marc Rozendal, CEO of EIT Urban Mobility, said: “Over three days in Barcelona, we saw what happens when cities, innovators and industry come together with a shared purpose. Europe is not short of innovative solutions. The challenge is to turn them into real impact at scale, and that is what Tomorrow.Mobility is about. At EIT Urban Mobility, we will build on the connections made here to help turn successful pilots into solutions deployed across cities.”

“We close a sixth edition that has been a great success and strengthened one idea: that we already have many tools to make our cities move better. Tomorrow.Mobility World Congress is the place were all actors in the mobility ecosystem meet, share and launch new initiatives capable of having real impact in our everyday lives, from public and private sectors, to research centers, innovative start-ups, and investors” said Delphine Romeu, Director of Tomorrow.Mobility World Congress.

Speakers at TMWC 2026 included Lukas Neckermann, mobility thinker; Teresa Riesgo, Spain’s Secretary General for Innovation; Axel Volkery, Head of the Innovation and Urban Mobility unit at the European Commission’s DG MOVE; Daryl Barron, Lord Mayor of Dublin; Karen Vancluysen, Secretary General of POLIS; and Lisandro Perotti, Undersecretary for Mobility Management and Control of the City of Buenos Aires, among others.

In addition, EIT Urban Mobility presented a study on how the growth of electric vehicles will affect Europe’s electricity grids, commissioned together with ChargeUp Europe and the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) and carried out by Siemens. The study models 64 urban centres across 30 countries and estimates that adapting distribution networks to a battery electric fleet expected to grow 3.8-fold on average by 2030 will require €24.7 billion in physical grid reinforcement, a figure that smart management of EV charging could cut by €10.6 billion, or 43%.

As in previous editions, Tomorrow.Mobility World Congress has been held alongside Smart City Expo World Congress, the leading international summit on cities and smart urban solutions; Tomorrow.Blue Economy; HOWS Barcelona; the Barcelona Deep Tech Summit and the Barcelona Cybersecurity Congress, these events have brought together 1,276 exhibitors and 29,721 attendees.

Tomorrow.Mobility World Congress will return to Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Via venue for its seventh edition on November 2 – 4, 2027.
