Pre-Seed funding from Silicon Valley for Munich-based AI start-up

AWAKE Mobility, a startup currently supported in the EIT Urban Mobility Accelerator Programme Central batch #2, has completed a financing round with High-Tech Gründerfonds, Synapse Partners from Silicon Valley and Vireo Ventures. With the money raised, AWAKE will focus on product development and further expand the existing team. Through pilot projects with municipal and private bus operators, the AWAKE platform can be precisely adapted to customer needs, bringing the otherwise very traditional industry ever closer to the digital age.

“Awake Mobility is on an inspiring journey and pushes for all possible opportunities – it is great to have them in our current Accelerator batch and I am excited to see what’s next” – Johannes Kirschner (Business Creation Manager Innovation Hub Central)

Founded in October 2020 by Daniel Sattel, Houssem Braham and Daniel Tyoschitz, the company is developing a data analysis platform for buses to optimise maintenance processes and prevent breakdowns. Condition monitoring and predictive maintenance are the fundamental methods that have played an essential role in industries such as aviation, wind power or manufacturing for years, but have been completely alien to the bus industry until now. In order to close this gap, the founders have set up AWAKE Mobility.

AWAKE Mobility installs IoT hardware in the buses that allows the relevant health and operating data of the buses to be read out. This data is stored in a central platform and analysed by machine learning algorithms. Based on the data analysis, proactive recommendations for efficient maintenance can be made. This reduces maintenance costs and increases vehicle availability.
