On 26 February, the first Mobility Commission of 22@Network Barcelona, a diverse collective of experts, innovators, and ecosystem actors, convened at the headquarters of EIT Urban Mobility. This event marked the beginning of a collective effort to foster more sustainable and efficient transportation in the district.

Adriana Díaz Arias, Director of Innovation at EIT Urban Mobility and newly appointed president of the commission, inaugurated the meeting. In her opening remarks, Adriana reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to driving sustainable urban mobility initiatives aligned with Barcelona’s broader environmental and smart city goals.

Marta Recasens, CEO of Vadecity and vice-president of the commission presented her strategic vision for 2025. She emphasised the importance of innovative solutions optimising mobility within the 22@ district, ensuring a seamless and accessible urban environment for businesses, residents, and visitors alike.

The commission introduced its first set of activities and objectives, including the promotion of micro-mobility solutions such as shared e-bikes and scooters and initiatives to create more pedestrian-friendly and accessible public spaces. Members also began shaping the key projects implemented throughout the year, aiming to transform urban mobility through technology and sustainable infrastructure.

The session concluded with an engaging debate, during which participants exchanged ideas and proposals to enhance mobility in the district. The discussion set the foundation for future collaborations and actionable strategies. The event wrapped up with a networking session over coffee, fostering connections between mobility experts, entrepreneurs, and policy-makers.

With this first meeting, the 22@Network Barcelona Mobility Commission takes a decisive step toward reimagining urban transportation, reinforcing the district’s role as a hub for innovation and sustainable urban development.
