Mobility is at the heart of every journey. How people arrive, move and explore shapes not only individual trips but also the sustainability, accessibility and overall quality of destinations. The European-wide initiative “Mobility & Tourism Innovations” connects innovators with decision-makers and industry leaders to accelerate the next generation of mobility and travel solutions. 

Led by POINT& and EIT Urban Mobility, and supported by a network of more than 20 partners, the initiative has scouted 124 ready-to-implement solutions. Its mission is to transform major events into real-world testbeds for scaling better mobility and travel experiences across Europe.  

Six categories, one mission 

The initiative focuses on six core areas, each hosted by a leading institution in the relevant domain. This setup creates direct pathways between innovators and the partners best positioned to implement, fund, or scale their solutions. 

• Travel Experience – Design journeys to and from Vienna that are accessible, seamless and climate-friendly – whether by train, plane, bus, carpooling or on foot. Hosted by Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB). 

• Mobility On Site – Smart and inclusive services that make getting around Vienna easy and active – ensuring every guest has a fun and stress-free experience. Hosted by Vienna Business Agency. 

• Hospitality & Accessibility – Create seamless mobility in and around hotels, venues and side events, with extra services ensuring comfort and access for everyone. Hosted by 1000things. 

• Explore Austria – Inspire visitors to go beyond the contest and discover Austria sustainably – from lakes to mountains, culture to cuisine. Hosted by Austria Tourism. 

• Extraordinary Travel Moments – From the first welcome to the final goodbye – innovative hospitality and mobility concepts that make every arrival and departure part of the story. Hosted by Austrian Airlines. 

• Safety & Digitalisation – Innovative solutions for booking, ticketing, payments and real-time travel information that make every journey effortless and safe. 

The 18 winners 

Over 40 jury members across mobility, tourism and city stakeholders have reviewed the 124 applications from 32 countries and selected the top three finalists in each of its six innovation categories. A special highlight for the EIT Urban Mobility portfolio startups across multiple categories, including: 

• .lumen (Hospitality & Accessibility) – A technology-driven hospitality company delivering smart accessibility solutions that enhance independence, comfort, and inclusivity for travelers with disabilities. 

• Nemi (Travel Experience) – A travel technology startup that personalizes and optimizes trip planning by combining real-time mobility data with user preferences for seamless door-to-door journeys. 

• Nudgd (Travel Experience) – A behavioral science-based mobility platform that uses digital nudges to encourage more sustainable, climate-friendly travel choices. 

• walk15 (Explore Austria) – A digital engagement platform that motivates people to explore destinations actively and sustainably through gamified walking challenges and reward-based mobility incentives. 

• Sociability Ventures (Hospitality & Accessibility) – A social impact venture creating inclusive hospitality and community solutions that foster belonging, accessibility, and meaningful connections for diverse travelers.
