SMEs are a very important part of Europe : representing around 99% of all companies in the EU. While, European cities, on average, are three times denser than US cities, meaning they’re ideally suited for innovation in urban mobility. Yet, European innovators operating within the sector of Urban Mobility are facing many market challenges, including the alignment of innovations with municipal regulations, and facing citizen needs. TICER – an educational initiative, from EIT Urban Mobility, an initiative of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, a body of the EU, in partnership with Green Brother, RMIT Europe, Szombathely City, and Frontira – is tailored to empower start-ups and SMEs effectively bridging the chasm between entrepreneurial vision and real-world triumph. The programme will run from September to November 2023 and will end of with a gala pitching ceremony day in December 2023.
Business Prospects with TICER
Through TICER, university students, start-ups and SMEs stand to gain insights and support, refining their entrepreneurial insight, validating their concepts in the market, and collaboratively engaging with city officials to navigate local regulations. The main modules will focus on Entrepreneurial Training, Co-creation Workshop (UX), City regulation Landscapes Workshop, and on top of that concrete practice will be held – interactions with municipal executives, practical solution testing in Szombathely, Hungary, and networking meetings for scaling and securing investments.

Three life-like Challenges, part of the programme TICER
Challenge 1 – Pioneering Sustainable Mobility Alternatives: In Szombathely, how can a culture of sustainable mobility be fostered, encouraging the adoption of eco-conscious transportation modes like buses, bicycles, scooters, and walking, instead of private cars?
Challenge 2 – Citizen-Centric Mobility Blueprint: How can citizen needs, and urban stakeholders’ inputs be channelled effectively into the city’s decision-making processes concerning mobility?
Challenge 3 – Orchestrating Data-Driven Mobility Synergies: As a municipal entity, how can existing and untapped data be harnessed to prompt improvements in traffic flow within both the public and economic sectors?
