EIT Urban Mobility at MOBCO Paris 2026: Lessons from the Copenhagenize Index and scaling urban mobility innovation

1 June 2026

EIT Urban Mobility, an initiative of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), a body of the European Union will participate in the MOBCO 2026 at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, from 9 to 11 June 2026.  At the event, EIT Urban Mobility will host two dedicated sessions and welcome visitors to Booth 98c to discuss how cities can accelerate the transition from pilot projects to large scale urban mobility solutions.

A key focus of the programme will be the findings of the Copenhagenize Index 2025 – EIT Urban Mobility Edition, which assessed 100 cities across 44 countries on their progress in making cycling a mainstream mode of transport. The study found that cities achieving the strongest results combine long term investment, dedicated governance structures and sustained political commitment. French cities performed particularly strongly, with Paris ranking 5th globally, Bordeaux 9th, Nantes 10th, Strasbourg 13th and Lyon 14th, reflecting the growing role of cycling in urban mobility strategies across France.

Since its creation in 2019, EIT Urban Mobility has supported pilot projects and demonstrations in cities across France, including Nevers, Toulouse and the Paris metropolitan area. Working alongside cities, industry and research partners, like Geopost, l’Agence de l’Innovation pour les transports or ViaID, EIT Urban Mobility helps test, evaluate and scale solutions that contribute to more sustainable, accessible and efficient urban mobility systems.
