Request for proposals: Training programme on the Adoption of Shared Mobility in Cities

By the present procurement procedure, the EIT KIC Urban Mobility S.L. hereby being referred to as “EIT UM” is aiming to identify a supplier capable of designing and delivering one Applied course on the topic of ‘the adoption of shared mobility’ in cities targeting transport professional across Europe.

Europe is leading global decarbonising transport efforts which do not rely on one single solution. Cities are home to 75% of EU citizens, which differ in size, geography, and local economy. European cities face increasing challenges to provide effective, resilient, and low-emission transport networks that improve the liveability and economic activity while curbing their environmental impact. In response, policymakers and local authorities are seeking pathways to develop a more diverse and flexible transport system, where shared mobility is viewed as a key part of a multi-modal and integrated transport system. Despite the positive impact of shared mobility in cities, there are still challenges to its greater uptake, while approaches vary significantly depending on the local context.

Despite the evident benefits of shared mobility in urban settings, significant challenges persist in its widespread adoption, with approaches varying greatly depending on local contexts. Addressing these challenges necessitates a fundamental shift in mindset and behaviour among stakeholders and users. Greater comprehension is needed on the imperative for increased shared mobility adoption and the actionable insights required to foster this transition effectively.

The overarching objective of this Applied Course on ‘Shared Mobility in Cities’ is to enhance the capacity of practitioners and executives to increase the adoption of shared mobility through best practices in design, implementation, and policy frameworks. The course delivered synchronously either online, on-site, or through a blended format, aims to be replicable and scalable, aligning with the EIT Urban Mobility Competence Hub’s Financial Sustainability strategy for 2024. Thus, a detailed business plan covering the course delivery in 2024 is essential.

The course will equip participants with the skills and knowledge to develop ambitious projects and strategies for promoting and implementing shared mobility solutions. Specific focus areas include implications for city planning, street space reorganization, user adoption strategies, stakeholder engagement, and impact assessment. By addressing these critical aspects, the course endeavours to empower participants to drive meaningful behaviour change and contribute to increase mode shift through more sustainable and inclusive urban transportation systems.
