SurplusMap develops cutting-edge algorithms to streamline the rollout of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in Europe. The uniqueness of the SurplusMap solution stems from its intuitive live map and AI-powered algorithms designed specifically for the EV charging industry (energy companies, CPOs, etc.).
During this project, SurplusMap will partner with Energie 360 Zurich, Switzerland and the City of Oslo to integrate this AI-based tool for EV infrastructure planning. The tool will suggest ideal charging configurations, pricing strategies and data-centric site analyses to future-proof infrastructure, ensuring a return on investment.
The SurplusMap solution contributes to Europe’s e-mobility adoption goals with analytical de-risking tools for EV infrastructure deployment, increasing return on investment.

The activity aims to develop and deploy an AI-powered platform, for optimising and growing EV charging infrastructure, that combines a live map-based with advanced analytics.
The activity addresses challenges in optimising EV charging infrastructure deployment, improving strategic decision- making, and increasing the accessibility and efficiency of charging networks.
The activity output includes a cloud-based decision support system, live collaborative map, business analytics dashboards and AI-powered tools for optimising EV charging infrastructure.
Using live collaborative maps, business analytics dashboards, and AI-powered tools, the SurplusMap platform helps energy companies, retailers, cities and charge point operators improve strategic decision making to optimise EV charging infrastructure deployment, accessibility and efficiency of charging networks.
During the pilot with the City of Oslo, SurplusMap mapped 118 city-owned chargers and introduced an AI-powered tool that forecasts energy demand from charging activity up to 72 hours in advance. Previously, it took two full-time and one part-time City of Oslo employees three weeks of mostly manual work to analyse the EV charging sites. With SurplusMap the same work can be done by two full-time employees in just two days.
Combining real-time and historical data with weather, traffic, and location context, the system’s live dashboard enables city planners to monitor usage and demand, predict usage trends, detect underperforming chargers, and plan future deployments with precision.
