Safe Path - AI-powered, Solar Info Kiosks with Audio Communication on the Bike Lanes of Belgrade
Belgrade faces the issue of pedestrian and cyclist safety, especially in car-free zones, where bicycles, scooters and pedestrians often do not stay in designated areas. The main objective of the project is to increase pedestrian and cyclist safety, reduce accidents and improve the use of infrastructure by monitoring user behaviour. This will be achieved with the implementation of an innovative, energy-independent information totem in Belgrade, which, through a CCTV module and artificial intelligence algorithms, will monitor pedestrian, cyclist and scooter traffic on key city routes. The totem, equipped with image processing technology and a dedicated online data analysis system, will enable the recognition of vehicle types (including cargo bikes, e-bikes and scooters) and analyse their speed, undesirable behaviours and traffic flow. This project began in June 2025 and will be completed by the end of November 2025.
