Real estate development for (future) mobility

The project entails the design and sketching of sustainable mobility services to improve spatial requirements and use of sustainable mobility modes.

Project summary

The aim of this project is to address the knowledge gap in conventional planning and sketching practices, where the spatial requirements for mobility services are often overlooked or inadequately considered, resulting in poorly developed spaces and functionality. As sustainable transportation becomes an increasingly integral aspect of urban development, developers must adhere to new requirements and standards. This course provides clarity on the measurements and standards that influence the design and functionality of buildings and services, ensuring they accommodate diverse transportation needs and emphasise a shift towards sustainable modes of travel.

This course has been designed in response to the ever-evolving landscape of (future) traffic and mobility services and their impacts on the preliminary planning phase before acquiring building permits.

The course is intended for a diverse range of professionals crucial to urban development, construction and transportation, including real estate developers, contractors, municipalities, architects, structural engineers, and project and construction project managers.

The course includes a full day on-site and combines presentations, best-practices, discussions and hands-on activities. The preliminary programme includes:

(1) Understanding the requirements future mobility services imposes on the physical design of buildings, both indoors and outdoors.

(2) Reviewing the guidelines, measurements and dimensions crucial for consideration in property construction and renovation, as well as infrastructure development in public spaces and urban environments.

(3) Streamlining and reducing costs in the preliminary planning stage, thereby enhancing efficiency and economic viability.

(4) Reflecting on dimensions and placement to attract and accommodate various target groups such as the elderly, children and women. By acquiring new skills and expertise, participants will be better equipped to navigate the evolving challenges in urban development and construction. They will learn to anticipate and address the demands of future mobility requirements, leading to more sustainable, economically viable and adaptable built environments.

Project start:

1 January 1970

Budget:

€24,000

Countries

denmark, germany, netherlands

Context

The course aims to close the knowledge gap in urban planning by providing information on the essential requirements for establishing effective sustainable mobility services.

Challenge

The course will equip participants with the knowledge needed to plan and design sustainable mobility services within urban environments.

Expected outcome

Upon completion, participants will have a deeper understanding of design principles and requirements for sustainable mobility services, enabling them to prioritise these services in urban development.
