Cluj-Napoca is Romania’s fastest growing city. The working population is increasingly moving to the surrounding areas, creating major new commuting zones. However, these areas do not have the same variety, quality or frequency of mobility solutions as more established neighbourhoods. This lack of reliable and predictable public transport encourages a reliance on private vehicles for daily commutes, contributing to air and noise pollution, and traffic jams within the city.
Developed by local startup X2 Mobile, Transport Cluj-Napoca is a mobile application that provides real-time information to public transport users in the metropolitan area. The app uses an API to access the GPS locations of the city buses every five seconds. The app shows the exact location of buses on the map and predicts how long they will take to reach the next station. It also provides information on arrival times, expected delays, and disruptions, helping users plan and navigate their journeys, and reducing stress and anxiety.
