Sustainable loading & delivery zones with the add-on smart control pack

Cities worldwide face the challenge of accommodating the growing parking demand of urban freight and delivery vehicles, impacting traffic congestion, urban mobility, air quality and the well-being of citizens and commercial drivers. Parking problems in loading and delivery zones include: increasing demand, parking without a permit, overstaying time limits, difficult and expensive parking enforcement, and lack of data to analyse and optimise public and private space. There is a need to regulate, control, monitor and analyse the data on loading and delivery zones to accelerate the shift towards sustainable city logistics.

Parkunload offers a fully digital solution to create, regulate, control, and optimise short-term parking zones for loading and unloading activities. Additionally, the solution can be customised to apply various conditions according to location, vehicle, user, and time of day. The solution can also be adapted to the context of the city, including either emergency or pollution episodes.
Throughout the course of this project Parkunload added functionality regarding the smart control pack, that enables digital management of a reward and penalty scheme in mobile applications, to the existing smart parking applications for drivers and parking agents. Parkunload implemented the full cycle of parking penalty notes management and the payment features for parking penalty notes as part of a pilot with the Council of Torrelavega, Spain.

Based on past performance, smart loading and delivery zones allow for a 30% increase in the parking turnover and availability of free spaces, as well as a 50% reduction in illegal parking.

Main Objective


The objective of the Parkunload project was to regulate, control, monitor and analyse digital loading or delivery zones to accelerate the shift towards sustainable city logistics.

Output


The Parkunload project added a smart control park functionality to the existing smart parking platform that will enable digital management of a reward and penalty scheme in mobile applications.
