The project enhances digital bicycle lifecycle management by integrating innovative features into the MIOO platform, a proven solution in Sweden’s cycling industry. This extension incorporates new features such as ownership transfer, QR code-based registration, and AI-powered bike specifications, to get prepared for upcoming EU regulations like the Digital Product Passport (DPP). By digitising bicycle service history, ownership records, and product data, the solution improves user experience and promotes sustainability through extending the lifecycle of bikes.
The solution is piloted in Stockholm, Sweden, with a strong cycling community. The project is led by MIOO Cycling AB, in partnership with bike manufacturer Livelo and BikeWise, an AI-platform for bike identification. RISE Research Institutes of Sweden contributes with expertise in circular economy strategies. This collaborative effort aligns with the goals of improving urban mobility sustainability and supporting regulatory compliance with EU Digital Product Passport initiatives.
By facilitating bike history management, ease of getting service and replacement rental bikes, lifecycle utility of bicycles increases. The project significantly reduces waste and encourages sustainable urban practices.

The urban mobility sector faces challenges of waste and inefficiency in bike lifecycle management. Current practices lack tools for circular economy adoption.
These challenges will be addressed with a scalable platform that streamlines bike ownership transfer and enhances lifecycle transparency through innovative technologies.
The project expects increased bike reuse, reduced waste, and enhanced user engagement in sustainable urban mobility practices, contributing to circular economy goals.
The LifeCycle project combines digital solutions with concrete services – subscription, service and traceability. A rental bike service is integrated, utilising the product development performed in the project. It is about creating an ecosystem where bikes live longer, change owners safely, and where more people can cycle even when their own bike is in the workshop.
Following the project, the focus will be to establish the concept and expand the network of MIOO workshops, starting with Stockholm, and later on other cities in Sweden. The solution developed is crucial for preparation for the EU’s upcoming DPP.
