Citython is an event created as an evolution of the concept of Hackathon and Datathon, where multidisciplinary teams of students and professionals from different backgrounds and expertise: architecture, urban planning, data science, engineering, human science and business creation, compete against each other to provide the most attractive, functional, real and innovative solutions.

Context

Citython is an event created as an evolution of the concept of Hackathon and Datathon, where multidisciplinary teams of students and professionals from different backgrounds and expertise: architecture, urban planning, data science, engineering, human science and business creation, compete against each other to provide the most attractive, functional, real and innovative solutions. These solutions will be aimed at tackling the urban mobility challenges, previously defined by the cities, providing knowledge by Mentors from top European Universities, and experience in different technological fields from Industrial partners.

Challenge

The cities involved are responsible to define the challenges, they will be addressed to be in connection to one or more of the following: Accessibility; Pollution; Space allocation; Transition Management; and Achieving sustainable urban growth.

Expected outcome

A wide range of possible solutions to tackle city challenges. Citython will provide three selected proposals for new business ideas, technological concepts, or prototypes to be implemented in cities. The Citython will engage citizens through their active collaboration on the competition, increasing knowledge and new experiences with the mentoring sessions offered during the development of the virtual and physical activities. There are three Citythons within the Business Plan 2020: one in Barcelona (Spain), the other in Lublin (Poland) and the other in Amsterdam (The Netherlands) The potential to integrate new Industrial partners on the network and the creation of the next generation of urban mobility experts, a community of students, professionals, and entrepreneurs capable of transforming our reality in a positive way.
