Anti-theft bicycle and scooter measures in Tel Aviv

Smart and secure bicycle parking

Project summary

Every 18 minutes a bicycle or scooter is stolen in Tel Aviv. Theft is ranked as the second most important reason for not using micromobility. The city wants to address this pain point so that micro and active mobility users feel that their vehicles are secure and the number of users increases.

Mosa, a London-based IoT startup, offers intelligent cycle parking and management solutions that provide smart and secure bicycle parking by converting existing conventional bike racks with patent-pending lock technology. A quarter of bicycle owners say they are deterred from cycling by the fear of bicycle theft. Anxiety over theft is exacerbated when people own higher-value e-bikes and e-scooters. Up to 93% of surveyed cyclists trust Mosa to protect their bikes more effectively than their own locks. Mosa’s mission is to make free-to-use smart and secure cycle parking available to everyone.

The project pilot will include over 100 cyclists who have shown interest in the trial. The trial will implement 10 locks across Tel Aviv, and Mosa hopes to expand the secure parking throughout the city.
