Beyond the bike lane: inside the Copenhagenize Index 2025
AGORA STAGE SESSION: 10 June, 13.15 – 13.45h
Moderated by EIT Urban Mobility, this Agora session unveils the Copenhagenize Index 2025 – EIT Urban Mobility Edition, a global benchmark assessing 100 cities across 44 countries on their progress in making cycling a mainstream mobility solution. Findings point to growing policy maturity: cycling is now embedded in climate, health, and quality-of-life agendas, with a shift from pilots to long-term, citywide programmes. Yet a clear execution gap persists. Stable funding, political continuity, and technical capacity separate top performers from the pack. The session translates rankings into practical roadmaps—spotlighting transferable policies, investment models, and governance approaches—through an informal conversation between the authors of the Index and representatives of some cities.
Participants will leave with:
- Examples of scalable interventions and metrics to track progress
- Key insights from the 2025 Index and regional patterns
- Concrete levers to move from ambition to implementation
Moderator: Marta Álvarez, Partner Development Manager at EIT Urban Mobility
Speakers:
- Clotilde Imbert | Director – Copenhagenize
- Holger Haubold | Director Intellectual Property + Data Collection – European Cyclist Federation
- Speaker TBC– City of Paris
