Barcelona New Economy Week - BNEW

Event details

Barcelona New Economy Week – BNEW is a physical and digital B2B event that gathers unique events of the sectors of Real Estate, Digital Industry, Mobility, Sustainability, Talent, Investment & Experience. They all share a common denominator: New Economy.

With the global situation heralding an unprecedented economic system transformation, analysing the challenges and coming up with imaginative solutions seems more necessary than ever. In this context, from 3 to 6 October 2022, the third edition of the Barcelona New Economy Week – BNEW forum will be held. The BNEW programme is organised around seven pillars driving the new economy: Real Estate, Digital Industry, Sustainability, Mobility, Talent, Experience and BNEW Invest, and expects to reach 12,000 attendees in the seven verticals, which will run in parallel. Experts in each one of the different fields will discuss about the current situation and anticipate what is coming to think about a better future. The event is organised by Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB).

EIT Urban Mobility collaborates with the event organising three round tables around the following hot topics:

BTECHWOMEN  |  Women in STEM – Diversity in the Startups Ecosystem | 04 October 2022
Moderated by Celeste Reglá, Business Creation Project Officer at EIT Urban Mobility Innovation Hub South

Under the umbrella of the Digital Industry pillar, EIT Urban Mobility organises and moderates a session on the topic of Women in Tech. The invested capital in start-ups keeps increasing steadily. Female-led start-ups are more successful, show a higher return on invested capital and are built in a more sustainable way. Despite this, only around 3 % of the total capital invested in venture-backed start-ups in Europe was secured by women, and all-male founder teams received 90,8% of all capital raised. So why are there so few start-ups with female founders? In this session we will review the most important causes of this difference, how the world is acting and what can we expect from the future.

During the session, we will discuss air mobility and its potential to redefine the public realm and build a brand-new model of space we are living in. On the last day of the event, and under the umbrella of the Mobility pillar, EIT Urban Mobility organises and moderates a session on the topic of Living labs, where we would like to present the new Urban Lab Mobility in Barcelona. The session will be an opportunity to present and discuss first-hand about the governance and operation of the initiative and how the four founding entities will promote and streamline innovation in the urban mobility sector, facilitating the execution of pilots to diversify the city’s economy and consolidate Barcelona as the capital of urban mobility innovation in southern Europe.
