European Mobility Week:
Mobility for everyone

Join us from 16 to 22 September 2026 and let’s rething how we move, for people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds.

Every September, cities across Europe celebrate European Mobility Week, the EU’s flagship campaign to raise awareness about sustainable urban mobility.

This year’s theme puts a special focus on intergenerational fairness, inviting us to rethink how people of all ages experience and move through our cities. From children and young people to adults and older people, mobility needs and challenges change throughout our lives, making accessible, inclusive and people-centred transport essential for everyone.

At EIT Urban Mobility, we’re joining the conversation with a programme of activities designed to inspire action, share knowledge and get people moving.

Building better commutes: how European cities are improving everyday mobility

14 September 15.00 CET

Daily commuting affects far more than how we get from A to B. It can influence our wellbeing, productivity and willingness to choose sustainable transport. Drawing on an EIT Urban Mobility survey of 1,503 commuters across Barcelona, Munich and Bucharest, this webinar will examine common challenges such as safety, reliability, congestion and overcrowding, while highlighting practical initiatives to make public transport and active mobility more attractive.

From first steps to golden years: citizen engagement across the circle of life

18 September 15.00 CET

How can cities create transport systems that work for people at every stage of life? This webinar explores the circle of mobility and the importance of involving citizens in shaping the transport systems they use. Through inspiring examples from the EIT Urban Mobility network, participants will discover how engaging people across the life course leads to more inclusive, accessible and people-centred mobility solutions. As a practical takeaway, participants will also receive a Citizen Engagement Across the Life Course Miro Board: a ready-to-use resource to inspire and support engagement with different communities in their own cities.
