EIT Urban Mobility joins the Board of Directors of the Spanish Hub of Gaia-X

EIT Urban Mobility Innovation Hub South Director, Daniel Serra, will be on the board of directors of Gaia-X Spain.

Initiated by the European Union, Gaia-X Association for Data and Cloud (AISBL) is an initiative that hopes to create a unified ecosystem of cloud and data services protected by European data laws and develop common requirements for European data infrastructure.

Last month, the Spanish city of Talavera de la Reina was the scene of the official birth of the Gaia-X Spain Association, which will operate as the Spanish HUB of the Gaia-X European initiative. The event was chaired by the First Vice-President of the Spanish Government and Minister of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, Nadia Calviño, the President of the Junta de Comunidades de Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano García-Page, the Mayoress of Talavera de la Reina, Tita García Élez and the Minister of Finance and Public Administrations, Juan Alfonso Ruiz Molina, and was attended by more than 150 representatives of national entities and companies.

During the constituent act, EIT Urban Mobility was chosen to be part of its board of directors, reaffirming our commitment to the European strategy for data. A position that will allow us to work together to create new data spaces that guarantee trusted environments between the different mobility actors, ensuring that they are harmonised, secure, ethical and privacy-focused. At the same time, we will support the search for solutions to the needs of the mobility ecosystem and favour the transition towards sustainable urban mobility, boosting Europe’s global competitiveness and data sovereignty. As members of the association, we will facilitate the creation of new policies that generate harmonised, secure, ethical and privacy-focused data sharing ecosystems. In this way, we will drive the transformation toward a digital economy in which data is one of the assets with the highest added value.
