International Transport Forum Summit 2025

Event details

The International Transport Forum (ITF) Summit 2025 on Transport Resilience to Global Shocks will take place from 21 to 23 May in Leipzig, Germany, under the Presidency of Chile, with Azerbaijan and Czechia as first and second Vice Presidents, respectively.

The ITF Summit is the world’s largest gathering of transport ministers and the premier global transport policy event. Since 2008, ministers from ITF’s 69 member countries, heads of international organisations, parliamentarians, and leaders in industry and academia have met annually during the 2.5-day Summit to discuss the future of transport and mobility through the prism of a strategic topic of global importance.

This year, participants will reflect and share perspectives on how to ensure the continuity of transport systems amidst disruptions such as natural disasters, pandemics, cyber-attacks, and geopolitical crises. Discussions will centre on policies for adapting to, mitigating and recovering from these shocks, with an emphasis on transforming systems into more sustainable and resilient networks.

Learning from the data: recommendations to reduce non-exhaust emissions in cities

Air pollution remains a pressing global health crisis, with particulate matter (PM) posing significant risks to human health and the environment. In urban areas, non-exhaust emissions from road transport—comprising brake, tyre, and road wear particles—now dominate PM pollution.

Using insights from a Cost-Benefit Analysis simulated in the case of London, as well as sectoral expertise, panellists will reflect upon the public interventions required to mitigate the harmful effects of NEEs on air quality, public health, and the environment. The question of collaboration at international level to establish monitoring protocols for NEEs will also be addressed.

This panel discussion will coincide with the launch of a new study, conducted by e:misia for EIT Urban Mobility, Transport for London (TfL), and the Greater London Authority (GLA). Speakers:

  • [Moderator] Bernadette Bergsma, Director of Communications and EU Affairs at EIT Urban Mobility
  • Laura Dyett, Senior Strategy and Policy Manager – Air Quality Transport Policy, Transport for London
  • Phoebe Stockton, Senior Policy and Programme Officer, Air Quality Team, Greater London Authority
